Prime Video's Heated Rivalry replacement, , officially gets a trailer.
Less than a year since the Crave original series landed on HBO Max and simultaneously aired, and yet, its success has continued to grow beyond its original run. Based on Rachel Reid's book of the same name, — pro-hockey arch-rivals find themselves in a multi-year secret romance. While the wait for Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander's return persists until next spring, a new show on Prime Video attempts to be the perfect alternative.
Similar to Heated Rivalry, Off Campus is based on the best-selling books by Elle Kennedy. It is developed by Louisa Levy for Amazon Prime Video, which is expected to premiere next month. With its release date slowly inching near, the streamer has ramped up its marketing efforts for the movie, starting with the release of its very first trailer. This marks an official proper look at what can be expected from Prime Video's hockey romance series.
As shared by Prime Video, the first trailer for Off Campus, tackling Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham's story, has officially been released. Their story is based specifically on the first book from Kennedy's Off-Campus novels, The Deal, and as revealed in the trailer, it revolves around the fake dating trope for the protagonists. Watch it below:
It's no secret that Heated Rivalry not just opened the doors for hockey romances on the small screen, but also set the bar really high for book adaptations. Since its release in late 2026, it has become a global hit, catapulting Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams to major stardom. At its core, however, was a well-done romantic story set in the fast-paced hockey world, which is exactly what Off Campus is also trying to do.
Aside from the pressure coming from the , there's also an expectation from those who have loved Kennedy's books for years. Admittedly, the Prime Video series cannot adapt every single thing from its print source, which presents opportunities for the series to take creative liberties. Looking at the trailer, it seems like Off Campus changed Hannah's nickname from Wellsy to Rosy, as well as altered Justin's background from being a football player to a musician.
The book changes allow the Prime Video series to keep even book readers hooked, as they don't know for sure what exactly will go down in the TV version of Hannah and Garrett's story. The success of Off Campus season 1 will determine whether the series will move forward, tackling other members of the Briar University hockey team's story.
Off Campus season 1 will stream on Prime Video on May 13, 2026.
