Guillermo del Toro's hit fantasy film is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a theatrical re-release later this year.
The Spanish-language flick was originally released in theaters in 2006 and went on to gross $83 million at the box office against a reported $19 million budget.
To mark the major two-decade milestone, Pan's Labyrinth will return to U.S. theaters on October 9, 2026, in 4K, according to ; some screenings of the film will be available in 3D and HDR. Fathom Entertainment and Cineverse are partnering together to distribute the film's theatrical re-release.
In a statement, Yolanda Macias, Cineverse's chief motion pictures officer, explained that Cineverse decided to team up with Fathom because the distributor has found "incredible success distributing special engagement releases around major anniversaries," which makes them the "ideal partner" for Pan's Labyrinth.
"Fathom’s incredible success distributing special engagement releases around major anniversaries makes it the ideal partner as we bring existing and new fans back into the masterpiece from the creative mind of Guillermo del Toro."
Ray Nutt, the chief executive officer at Fathom, called Pan's Labyrinth a "modern-day cinematic masterpiece" and hopes that moviegoers will discover (and re-discover) the fantasy film on the big screen all these years later. He also promoted premium large format viewing options like 3D showings, which, according to Nutt, will make this re-release a "must-see cinematic experience."
"Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth is a modern-day cinematic masterpiece wonderfully suited for audiences to rediscover on the big screen. Even better, thanks to our partners at Cineverse and in celebration of its 20th anniversary, we are presenting Pan’s Labyrinth with premium large format (PLF) viewing options – including 3D – for the ultimate, must-see cinematic experience."
Speaking of 3D, SDFX Studios has spearheaded the efforts to transform Pan's Labyrinth into stereoscopic 3D, with Vincent Defebo explaining that the visual effects and post-production company is "incredibly proud" of the opportunity to collaborate with del Toro, and the experience has been a "dream come true."

The is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 95%, making it one of del Toro's highest-rated films of his entire career.
Del Toro and his team scored several wins during awards season, with Pan's Labyrinth winning Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Makeup at the Oscars, and Best Film Not in the English Language, Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hair at the BAFTAs.
Not only did del Toro direct the film, which centers on a girl who discovers a labyrinth after fleeing her step-father, but he also wrote the script and served as a producer with Bertha Navarro, Alfonso Cuarón, Frida Torresblanco and Álvaro Augustin.
After Pan's Labyrinth, as Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Pacific Rim, The Shape of Water, Pinocchio and Frankenstein, and created several TV shows, including The Strain, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, and Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. He also co-wrote the scripts for all three of Peter Jackson's Hobbit films after originally signing on as the director.
