For the last two years since its anime first debuted, has been utterly untouchable with the series enjoying unprecedented viewership and popularity season after season. That said, from Eleceed to Tomb Raider King, coming up, and they're all clamoring to steal its vacant throne in its absence.

However, only one upcoming webtoon adaptation truly stands a chance at becoming the "Solo Leveling killer" and it's Omniscient Reader. Unanimity is rare in webtoon and manhwa fan circles, but even so, Omniscient Reader's webtoon is already , if not the only series truly capable of surpassing it. All that remains is for its upcoming anime to prove as such and after nearly two years, Omniscient Reader's anime finally has a new update on its release.

Omniscient Reader Is Coming for Solo Leveling’s Throne in 2027

As announced back in March 2026, Com2uS is currently working on publishing a game based on Omniscient Reader together with the developer Offbit. Com2uS recently held a conference to discuss its quarterly earnings for Q1 2026 and also released a fiscal report detailing their outlook for the future, which mentions Omniscient Reader's anime.

As per this report, shared online by , Omniscient Reader's anime will be released in 2027, with the mobile game in development implied to coincide with this release. The studio in charge of the anime adaptation has yet to be revealed, though the report by Com2uS hints that the Omniscient Reader anime is being produced by "a famous Japanese animation studio."

The report reads:

The Omniscient Reader IP is a globally successful IP that has recorded over 2 billion cumulative views combined from Naver Webnovel and Webtoon. An anime adaptation produced by a famous Japanese animation studio is scheduled to air in 2027, and Com2uS is currently developing a mobile game based on it.

Com2uS was also asked for more details on the release dates for the Omniscient Reader game and other new IP titles, to which the studio's response was, "It is not yet known whether these games will be released in the first or second half of 2027." As such, it is hard to estimate when exactly the Omniscient Reader anime will be releasing in 2027 just yet.

Omniscient Reader’s Anime Will Be Worth the Wait

Officially announced at Anime Expo 2026 back in July of the same year, it has nearly been two whole years since Omniscient Reader's anime was first put on everyone's radar. Fans have been patiently waiting for an update on the project ever since, making this release window confirmation a much-needed surprise and reminder that the project is still underway.

So far, neither Aniplex, Crunchyroll, nor Omniscient Reader's official anime website have confirmed the release window. However, assuming the 2027 release window is accurate, more official updates on the anime won't be far off.
