Netflix continues to dominate the crime drama landscape with acclaimed titles such as Ozark, Black Doves, Bandi, Bodkin, The Woods, and others spanning various formats from limited series to ongoing productions.

Industry veteran Courtney A. Kemp, renowned for her decade-long stewardship of Power, is preparing her next project: Nemesis. The series will launch on May 14, coinciding with the release of the Japanese LGBTQ drama Soul Mate.

Set against the backdrop of Los Angeles, Nemesis follows the cat-and-mouse dynamics between a legendary thief and a tenacious investigator. The ensemble cast features Eric C. Sun, Manuel Uriza, DeLaRosa Rivera, Sol Romo, Anthony D. Washington, Brielle Barbusca, Leialani Nicol, and Mike O'Malley.

Kemp co-created Nemesis alongside Tani Marole, marking her first solo TV creation after years associated with the Power franchise. This marks a significant shift for the producer-creator, who previously contributed to Beauty and the Beast (2012–2013).

The series offers Kemp an opportunity to demonstrate her versatility beyond the established Power universe, exploring fresh narrative territory while maintaining the high-stakes tension characteristic of her work.

While crime programming thrives on Netflix, few titles achieve mainstream recognition without literary adaptations or celebrity-driven appeal. Nemesis enters this competitive space as an original production with a relatively unknown cast, relying on strong storytelling to attract viewers.

The show's success will depend on how effectively it engages both existing Power fans and broader crime enthusiasts, potentially redefining Kemp's creative legacy.

With no major star attached and no source material adaptation, Nemesis represents a calculated risk for Netflix's original slate, testing audience loyalty through innovative storytelling rather than established franchises.
