Once upon a time, Netflix unveiled a teaser ahead of its new adaptation's release.
Netflix's adaptations span far and wide, and there are hundreds of adaptations on the streaming service. The streaming giant has also produced a few notable Western series and movies, including The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The Harder They Fall, The Power of the Dog, The Abandons, Concrete Cowboy, and Godless.
Streaming giant Netflix has officially adapted a 43-year-old Western series, Little House on the Prairie, and has unveiled a new teaser for the upcoming series. The trailer begins with a young Laura Ingalls narrating, "Once upon a time, Pa, and Ma, and Mary, and Laura …" Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Housemaid, The Boys) spoke to about the adaptation and stated that this series is about "a love story about a family. They’re a family you want to be with, you want to know, you want to spend time with."
Alice Halsey has been cast as the leading role of Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey will play the father Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald will be playing the matriarch Caroline Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes will play Mary Ingalls. is an American children's novel series written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, which was published between 1932 and 1943. The books are based on Wilder's childhood and chronicle the Ingalls' family's journey across America.
Since the books were originally published, the Little House series has sold more than 73 million copies in more than 100 countries and has been translated into at least 27 languages. The from 1974, which ran for nine seasons, received 13.25 billion minutes of viewing in 2026, according to Nielsen.
Not much information has been shared about the series and what it will entail, but Sonnenshine did shed some light on what people can expect:
"The first season is inspired by Little House on the Prairie, which is actually the third book in the series. The characters talk about their life before they came to the prairie — we might meet a few characters from their past."
