A former cast member on reveals whether she'll ever return to the franchise.

Emmy winner Judith Light had a recurring role as Liz Donnelly on Law & Order: SVU in the 2000s, and in an interview with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns for The Terror: The Devil in Silver, the actor revealed that she had almost returned a couple of years ago.

The producers reached out because they had a storyline in mind for her, but a scheduling conflict on her end prevented it from happening. While there are no plans at the moment, Light is leaving the door open to return. "Who knows?" she pondered. Thinking back to her , she revealed that the NBC crime drama had one of her "favorite lines that I've ever gotten to say."

During one particular scene, her character, Donnelly, is talking to someone who has committed a crime, and she says, "Everybody's going crazy. What's going on? People, take your meds." Light has always loved how the producers and writers crafted her character. "I thought it was really sublime," she added.

A couple of years ago—no, more than that now—they had reached out. I think they wanted to do something, and then it didn't work out with my schedule or something. I don't even really know exactly what happened, but one of my favorite lines that I've ever gotten to say is like, 'People, take your meds.' People just go crazy. She's talking to somebody who's committed a crime and she said, 'Everybody's going crazy. What's going on? People, take your meds.' And I love that. And I always loved the way they wrote that character. I thought it was really sublime. But [there's] not anything right now, but they keep going. How many years is it? Like 23, 25? Mariska, Chris, love them. I mean, who knows?"

Before , Light had already made a name for herself in the entertainment industry through roles on One Life to Live, which earned her two Daytime Emmy Awards, and Who's the Boss?

In 2002, she was cast as Donnelly in a recurring capacity on SVU and appeared in more than two dozen episodes until she left in 2010 during season 12. One of her most memorable storylines on the show involved Donnelly being poisoned by an intern seeking revenge.

While on Law & Order: SVU, she was also , which aired for four seasons from 2006 to 2010.

After the America Ferrera-led dramedy ended, Light moved on to several other shows and movies, including the Dallas revival, Transparent, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, The Politician, Manhunt: Deadly Games, Impeachment: American Crime Story, Shining Vale, Julia and Tick, Tick...Boom!

She received Emmy nominations for several of these projects, like Ugly Betty, Transparent, and Gianna Versace, and then her guest-starring role on Poker Face earned Light her first Emmy win since One Life to Live.
