Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 4, episode 3, "Merrily We Go."A harsh reality is getting worse for an important character. There is no shortage of difficult truths for the residents to grapple with, especially as they learn more about the Township they are trapped in. One of the most important discoveries they made comes in .
Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade Herrera (David Alpay) learn that this is not their first time in the Town. They have been there numerous times already, continually returning in different reincarnated forms, including Tabitha as Miranda (Sarah Booth) and Jade as Christopher (Thom Payne). Each time, they try to save the children, one of whom was their own, but they always fail.
This is a game-changing revelation that recontextualizes much of the series and what thought they had figured out. Since Tabitha was Miranda, it means that she was the wife of Henry Kavanaugh (Robert Joy) and the mother of Victor Kavanaugh (Scott McCord). Having a child with Jade also means she had a romantic relationship with him in at least one of their past lives.
In , Jade is trying to capitalize on the discovery, believing that it may be the key to finally figuring out how to escape the Town. A few select characters, such as Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau), know the truth, but three episodes into this season, Tabitha is concealing the information from individuals who need to hear it.
Julie, Ethan, Victor, & Henry Still Don’t Know About Tabitha’s Past Lives
While Boyd knows the truth, Julie, Ethan, Victor, and Henry are still in the dark about Tabitha and Jade's past lives. Tabitha hasn't told her children or the Kavanaughs yet about what she knows, even though it has an important bearing on them. She gets close to telling Henry in when he is concerned about her going to the bottle tree, but she doesn't end up divulging the information.
Long before the season 3 finale, Ethan and Victor had become friends and Tabitha had become a mother figure to Victor, often being the only person able to comfort him when he is particularly distressed. While they didn't realize it before, Victor's trust in her, Tabitha's ability to reach him, and how much they care for each other is largely rooted in her being his mother in a past life. Ethan and Victor's friendship can also be partly attributed to them being brothers in a sense.
Julie and Ethan are still reeling from the death of their father, Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey), which they just learned about in season 4, episode 2, and Victor is consumed with dread after seeing a yellow suit in the woods, which belongs to (Douglas E. Hughes). It's not exactly a great time for Tabitha to drop another bombshell on them, but that doesn't fix the larger problem.
Tabitha Needs To Share The Truth With Her Loved Ones
Tabitha's reluctance to share the truth with her loved ones is understandable given current circumstances and because it will inevitably be a hard thing for Julie, Ethan, Victor, and Henry to accept. Nevertheless, she needs to tell them soon, as continuing to hide the information is only going to make things worse. Victor and Henry deserve to know that Tabitha was Miranda in a past life and Julie and Ethan deserve to know the truth about their mother.

Beyond what they deserve, bringing the truth out into the open may help with solving other mysteries and finding a way to escape the Town. In past seasons, some problems have been created and progress has not been made because characters keep too much information to themselves. This mistake can be avoided if Tabitha shares what she learned, and perhaps it will help or lead to other important answers.
The Man in Yellow killing Jim and leaving the message "Knowledge comes at a cost" after Tabitha and Jade's discovery is a sign that they are finally on the right track. If this is the case, Tabitha concealing the truth is a step backwards, especially since it could prove useful to and what Victor knows after being trapped in the Town for decades. From is making Tabitha's harsh reality worse, but this can be changed if she lets Julie, Ethan, Victor, and Henry know what is going on.
