The Addams family is bringing exciting new members into the fold for season 3's anticipated return.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Ash Crossan for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Luis Guzmán, who portrays patriarch Gomez Addams, discussed his anticipation for the supernatural Netflix series' upcoming episodes. With new members of the extended Addams family confirmed to appear in Wednesday season 3, Guzmán explained the next outing will have "a bit of a family reunion going on," while also praising the franchise's enduring multi-generational appeal:

ScreenRant: "You said a lot of people bring up Wednesday now. What excites you about the next season? They're adding a lot of family members."

Luis Guzmán: "Yeah, it's a bit of a family reunion going on. We have great guest stars coming in. It's a wonderful universe to be a part of. I've always said this whole franchise has gone through so many generations — grandparents, their kids, their grandkids, great-grandkids. Everybody loves something about it because it started as a comic strip, then a cartoon, a black-and-white episodic, a movie, more cartoons, and now this. That's pretty formidable. And to have the numbers we have — so many things get retreaded and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but this has had amazing success. I pinch myself every day. I would never in ten lifetimes have imagined I'd be Gomez Addams, but here it is.

I love working with Tim Burton, my writers, my cast, my crew. I love the response from audiences and fans. And now to be part of the Super Mario Galaxy movie — that's next level. If this were a candy store, I'd be seeing the dentist the next day. Very happily. Trust me."

In late February, Netflix released a that revealed several new cast members and characters. Among the biggest additions within the Addams family is Eva Green as Ophelia Frump, Morticia's long-lost sister. Furthermore, Winona Ryder is joining as the mysterious Tabitha, Noah Taylor as Cyrus, Oscar Morgan as Atticus, Kennedy Moyer as Daisy, and Chris Sarandon as Balthazar. The latter character is theorized to be an Addams, as 1991's The Addams Family film included references to a "Cousin Balthazar."

The expansion of the has included plenty of shocking twists across the show's first two seasons, though the additions have largely focused on members of Morticia's Frump clan. Joanna Lumley debuted in Wednesday season 2 as Morticia's mother Hester Frump, with the back of Ophelia's head being shown in the closing moments of the season finale. While Gomez's parents are still a mystery, it's looking like more Addamses will enter the fold beyond Uncle Fester.

With Luis Guzmán teasing "great guest stars" coming in for Wednesday season 3, some of the recently-announced big names could end up being relatives of Gomez, though descriptions for the majority of new characters have been under wraps. On April 9, Netflix confirmed that Game of Thrones' Lena Headey, Ted Lasso's James Lance, and Pretty in Pink's Andrew McCarthy will appear in undisclosed guest roles.

The returning star also addressed his gratitude for the "amazing success" that Wednesday has seen across its first two seasons, though Guzmán notes their retreading of certain franchise topics "sometimes works, sometimes... doesn't." In addition to critical acclaim, Wednesday has become one of in terms of viewership, with season 1 now having netted over 1.7 billion hours viewed on the streaming platform.

After Wednesday season 2 ended in early September 2026, the series quickly set sights on production for season 3, as filming began at the end of February. The Jenna Ortega-led mystery show is currently in production near Dublin, which is projected to conclude in late 2026 based on previous seasons' filming timelines. As such, Wednesday season 3's release on Netflix is expected for 2027 at the earliest.

Following his voice role in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and ahead of Wednesday season 3's arrival, Luis Guzmán is also gearing up for the long-awaited premiere of his film Coyote vs. Acme. The movie was originally shelved in 2026 as a tax write-off for Warner Bros. Discovery, only for the company to reverse the move and allow the filmmakers to find another distributor. Three years later, the live-action-animation hybrid is now finally debuting in August 2026.
