Seven months after being indefinitely delayed, it's been confirmed that Apple TV's will be released this year.
The political thriller series is centered on , known as the Savant, who goes undercover and investigates online hate groups to prevent domestic terrorism attacks from happening. The first two episodes were scheduled to premiere on Apple TV on September 26, 2026, but the show was indefinitely postponed only three days earlier, on September 23. While Apple TV did not cite it as the official reason for the delay, it was widely believed that the decision was due to the assassination of Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk on September 10.
Chastain has now shared with at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in Santa Monica that "Before it was like, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to see it,’ but now I can say, ‘We’re going to see it.'" The Savant will reportedly debut on the streaming service in July, ten months after the previously scheduled release date. It was developed to be a miniseries and features eight episodes.
In September, Apple TV's official statement was, “After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone ‘The Savant.’ We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.” , explaining in her own statement that "The Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more important than ever."
Chastain is not only the leading star of The Savant but is one of the show's executive producers. The story is based on the 2019 "Is it Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?" The feature describes a real-life individual known as the Savant who is an investigator tracking dangerous individuals online, just as Chastain's character does in the show. The Savant's creator and showrunner, Melissa James Gibson, came in with a great deal of experience in the political thriller genre.
